FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mayor Diaz supports Gonzalez, Puccio & LebreaultMayor Wilda Diaz has released a statement in support of the Together for Quality Schools candidates for Board of Education, Obi Gonzalez A-4 , Ken Puccio A-5 and Sam Lebreault A-6Friday, April 10, 2009 -- This announcement was released by Mayor Wilda Diaz in support of Obi Gonzalez A-4, Ken Puccio A-5 and Sam Lebreault A-6, the Together for Quality Schools candidates in the April 21 Board of Education election. One year ago, I asked you to help me change Perth Amboy and you did. As President Obama said, ““This victory was not the change we seek; it is only the chance for us to make that change.” Now, we can make another choice for change. I do not like telling people how to vote in Board of Education elections. I want to keep politics out of our public schools. I do believe that it is of great importance to share with you some of the very compelling reasons why I am voting for Obi Gonzalez, Ken Puccio and Samuel Lebreault. I have known Obdulia (Obi) Gonzalez since I was a child. During her 34 years working as a Guidance Counselor in the Perth Amboy Public Schools, she has mentored and inspired thousands of Perth Amboy students. When I was a student at Perth Amboy High School, I personally witnessed her dedication, professionalism, and most of all, her commitment to help the children of this community. These are but some of the attributes that make her such an outstanding candidate to serve on our Board of Education, and to represent the interests of our children and our parents. Ken Puccio has served for three decades as a Perth Amboy Police Officer, and for the past 19 years has guided and protected our children through his leadership of the DARE Program. He also serves as the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Juvenile Affairs Officer. Ken has worked closely with the Perth Amboy Public Schools and the Perth Amboy community to maintain our children safe. Samuel Lebreault is an outstanding role model for our children and our community. He is a product of the Newark public schools. Although, raised in a single parent home, he graduated as the Valedictorian of his high graduating class, and went on graduate from the New Jersey Institute of Technology as a Civil Engineer. He is presently employed by the MTA in New York, but is engaged in various civic and religious organizations in Perth Amboy. Samuel and his wife are members of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, and live in the Sixth Ward. Gonzalez, Puccio and Lebreault are parents. We can trust them. Perth Amboy deserves excellent schools run by responsible guardians of our
children and our tax dollars. By voting for Gonzalez, Puccio and Lebreault, you
will help taxpayers save money and give children a better education! Let’s
continue working together to change our city.
